Make Beamo your default search engine

Browsers don't let a website flip your default automatically, so here's the quickest way for each one. The fastest paths take just a couple of taps.

Chrome, Edge, Brave & Opera (desktop)

  1. Install the free Beamo Search extension.
  2. Confirm the one-time browser prompt — “Change search to Beamo Search.”
  3. Done. Every address-bar search now goes to Beamo.

Installs from the Chrome Web Store. Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi support it too — they may first ask you to allow extensions from other stores.

Firefox (desktop)

  1. On any Beamo page, click the address bar (or right-click the page) and choose “Add Beamo Search.”
  2. Open Settings → Search.
  3. Under Default Search Engine, pick Beamo Search.

Beamo already shows up in Firefox's engine list automatically (via OpenSearch) — no add-on needed.

Android phones & tablets

  1. Run one search on beamosearch.com so your browser remembers Beamo.
  2. Chrome: ⋮ menu → Settings → Search engine → choose Beamo Search.
  3. Firefox / Brave: Settings → Search → set Beamo as the default engine.

Beamo is detected automatically once you've searched it once.

iPhone & iPad

  1. Safari only allows its built-in search engines, so it can't make Beamo the default.
  2. Best option: use Brave, Firefox, or DuckDuckGo and set Beamo as the search engine in their settings.
  3. Or tap Share → Add to Home Screen for one-tap Beamo access.

We're working on a Beamo iOS app that can act as your default browser.

Safari (Mac)

  1. Safari limits the default to its built-in engines, so Beamo can't be set as the default there.
  2. Add the Beamo Search Safari extension for a one-click toolbar search and right-click “Search Beamo.”
  3. For a true default search, use Chrome, Edge, Brave, or Firefox on your Mac.

Any other browser (manual)

  1. Open your browser's search engine settings.
  2. Add a new engine with the URL https://beamosearch.com/results?q=%s.
  3. Set it as your default.

Most browsers also list Beamo automatically after you search it once, thanks to OpenSearch.
